Description
Phytoral-SP Lotion is a medicine that contains ketoconazole and salicylic acid. It is used for the treatment of dryness, flaky ness, scaly ness, itching of skin associated with dandruff caused by fungal infections. This combination also helps in treating pityriasis, a kind of skin rash that starts with a big spot usually on the chest, abdomen, or back. It works by interfering with certain vital functions of fungi and kills them. Thus, it treats the infection and stops it from spreading. Phytoral-SP Lotion has some minor side effects like skin redness, dryness, burning sensation on the skin. Before you start using it, perform a patch test by applying it to a small area on your skin to know how your skin will react to this lotion. Discontinue the use and consult your doctor if you experience severe burning, itching of the skin etc. Phytoral-SP Lotion should be used as advised by your doctor. Clean your hands properly and apply a thin layer of this medication to the scalp or affected area. You should also wash your hands after using this lotion. It should be applied 20 minutes before other skin preparations (e.g. shampoo). It is recommended for external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes, mouth or open wounds. Wash thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Phytoral-SP Lotion may not be safe to be used in pregnancy. However, consult your doctor before using this lotion, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. If you do not notice any improvement in your condition even after 2-4 weeks of use, consult your doctor for further instructions.

Salicylism

Prolonged use of Phytoral-SP Lotion in large amounts may lead to a toxic condition marked by ringing in the ears, nausea, and vomiting (salicylism). Based on your condition your doctor may titrate the dosage of this medicine.

External use

Phytoral-SP Lotion is only recommended for external use. Avoid contact with the mouth, eyes, mucous membranes, cuts, grazes, or wounds. In case of accidental contact rinse immediately with water.

Use in children

Phytoral-SP Lotion is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age due to the safety and efficacy data is not available.

Other medicines

Apply Phytoral-SP Lotion to the affected area as instructed by the doctor. It is for external use only, avoid contact with eyes, nose and other mucous membranes. Rinse immediately with water in case of accidental contact. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label or the package insert. Do not apply in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Do not cover the application area with cloths unless specifically instructed by your doctor.
