Description
Pepsigard-P Suspension is a combination of Sucralfate and Domperidone. It is used to treat stomach and intestinal ulcers (painful sores). It also helps to treat nausea and vomiting that may be associated with ulcers. Sucralfate works by forming a protective coating on the surface of your ulcer and helps in healing. Domperidone works by blocking a chemical substance (dopamine) in your body that is responsible for the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Pepsigard-P Suspension may cause common side effects such as constipation and dryness in your mouth. Other less common side effects include diarrhoea, indigestion, headache, drowsiness, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or if they become severe. Pepsigard-P Suspension should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. Pepsigard-P Suspension should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney problems, or diabetes (a condition where blood sugar levels are high) before taking this medicine. Close evaluation with respect to your current medicines is necessary to avoid any undesired side effects. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Allergy

Prolactinoma

Prolactinoma is a condition with a noncancerous tumor of your pituitary gland (the gland located at the base of your brain). This tumor increases the levels of a hormone called prolactin. Since Pepsigard-P Suspension may increase your prolactin levels, this medicine is not recommended if you have this condition due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Gastrointestinal disorders

Pepsigard-P Suspension is not recommended if you have a history of bleeding in your stomach/intestines or a blockage/tear in your intestines due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Heart diseases

Pepsigard-P Suspension is not recommended if you have pre-existing heart problems such as heart failure (heart is unable to pump blood properly), prolonged QT interval (an abnormal heart rhythm) due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Moderate to severe liver impairment

Liver impairment is a condition of reduced liver function. Pepsigard-P Suspension is not recommended due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Pregnancy

Chronic kidney disease is a long-term condition that causes a gradual loss of kidney function. Pepsigard-P Suspension should be used with caution if you have this condition due to the increased risk of severe side effects.
