Pazopanib

Description

Pazopanib is an anticancer medicine used for the treatment of advanced kidney cancer and advanced soft tissue sarcoma, a tumor that can occur in and around joints, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, or organs. It is generally used in patients who have not responded to other cancer medicines. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

General warnings

Kidney function impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases, especially in case of severe kidney diseases, due to the increased risk of serious side effects. Close monitoring of kidney function tests is necessary while taking this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Driving or Operating Machinery

This medicine may cause blurred vision or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Bleeding disorders

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with bleeding disorders or any gastrointestinal perforations since it may increase the risk of excessive bleeding. Discontinuation of the therapy with this medicine may be required in such patients based on the clinical condition.

Surgeries

Use of this medicine may be stopped for at least 7 days prior to the surgical procedures because it may impair the wound healing process.

Lung dysfunction

Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of adverse effects such as liver damage, irregular heart rhythm, high blood pressure, bleeding, etc. Report any unusual symptoms such as dizziness, muscle pain, fever and chills, headache, swelling of hands and feet, vomiting, skin rash, etc. to the doctor immediately.
