Papaverine
Description
Papaverine is a peripheral vasodilator used for the relaxation of smooth muscles which helps them to dilate. It is used to treat muscle spasms of smooth muscles, gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in treating erectile dysfunction due to the increased risk of undesired effects.

Administration
When used intravenously, this medicine should be administered by a slow push over 1-2 minutes.
Liver Disease
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with liver disease due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is necessary for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Glaucoma
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with glaucoma due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Use in Chidren
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Missed Dose
Since this medicine is usually administered by a qualified healthcare professional in the clinical/hospital setting, the likelihood of a missed dose is very low. If you miss any scheduled session you should contact your doctor immediately and fix an appointment as recommended by your doctor.
