Papaverine

Description

Papaverine is a peripheral vasodilator used for the relaxation of smooth muscles which helps them to dilate. It is used to treat muscle spasms of smooth muscles, gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in treating erectile dysfunction due to the increased risk of undesired effects.

Administration

When used intravenously, this medicine should be administered by a slow push over 1-2 minutes.

Liver Disease

Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Glaucoma

Use in Chidren

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
