Description

Palbociclib is an anticancer drug used in combination with other medicines to treat certain types of breast cancer. Close monitoring of blood cell count is recommended during treatment with this medicine. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

General warnings

Neutropenia

This medicine may cause neutropenia (decrease in white blood cells) in some patients. A decrease in white blood cell count may render the patient prone to serious and opportunistic infections. Report any unusual symptoms such as a fever, chills, sore throat, etc. to the doctor immediately. Close monitoring of blood cell counts is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Infections

Since this medicine can cause bone marrow suppression, the patients are susceptible to serious and opportunistic infections. Report any symptoms such as a fever, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Missed Dose
