Description
Painact SP Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Aceclofenac, Paracetamol and serratiopeptidase. Painact SP Tablet is used to treat pain, stiffness, and swelling at joints due to ankylosing spondylitis (a type of arthritis that causes lower back pain affecting the spine and large joints), osteoarthritis (a type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue at the ends of your bones wears down) and rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune disorder affecting many joints, including those in the hands and feet). It is also used to get relief from headaches, toothaches, backaches, menstrual pain, sprains, and strains. This medicine blocks the release of a chemical that causes pain and swelling. Painact SP Tablet shows side effects like nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. Painact SP Tablet may also cause dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machines if you feel drowsy or dizzy after taking this medicine. Painact SP Tablet should be taken with food, milk, or an antacid to avoid stomach irritation. Painact SP Tablet relieves pain and swelling due to arthritic conditions but does not cure it. Do not self-medicate or use it beyond the prescribed duration. Painact SP Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of stomach or intestinal bleeding, asthma, and severe heart, liver and kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you have a history of any medical condition and your current/previous medication. This medicine may affect the development of your foetus. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or a breastfeeding mother, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Allergy

General warnings

Chronic malnutrition

Malnutrition and fasting can increase the risk of Painact SP Tablet toxicity. Your doctor will adjust the dose as per your weight.

Long term use

Use of Painact SP Tablet for more than 4 weeks is not advised due to the lack of safety and efficacy data for long-term use.

Bleeding disorders

Painact SP Tablet may interfere with blood clotting causing bleeding or bruising. Use it very cautiously if you have bleeding disorders.

Surgeries

Stop taking Painact SP Tablet at least 10-14 days before a scheduled surgery as it may increase the risk of bleeding during and/or after the procedure.

Driving or operating machines

Painact SP Tablet may cause sleepiness or dizziness. Avoid driving vehicles and operating heavy machines after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Painact SP Tablet at a scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take Painact SP Tablet more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

Liver disease

Avoid taking Painact SP Tablet if you have liver problems. This medicine can accumulate in the diseased liver and lead to further liver damage. Your doctor will suggest tests to monitor your liver functions while you take this medication.

Asthma

You may experience exacerbation of asthmatic episodes while taking Painact SP Tablet. Hence it is not recommended for use if you have asthma, especially when you had experienced allergic reactions by using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines.

Gastro-Intestinal toxicity

Long term use of Painact SP Tablet can damage your stomach and intestine. Any symptom indicating ulceration and bleeding like chronic indigestion, the appearance of coffee coloured dry blood in stools or blood vomiting should be reported immediately to your doctor.

Kidney diseases

Prolonged use of high doses of Painact SP Tablet may cause kidney problems, such as painful urination and protein or blood in the urine. Hence, your kidney functions need to be closely monitored.

5-HIAA Urine Test

5-HIAA urine test measures the amount of serotonin in your body. Painact SP Tablet can interfere with urine test and may give a false-positive result. Inform your doctor and lab technician about all your current medicines before undergoing any lab test.

Take Painact SP Tablet with or after food to avoid stomach irritation. Drink adequate water for easy swallowing. Never take more than the prescribed dose. It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how Painact SP Tablet affects you. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Painact SP Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Avoid taking Painact SP Tablet with any other medicine containing acetaminophen (drugs for pain/fever or cough-and-cold) without asking your doctor first. Take Painact SP Tablet at around the same time daily. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not break, crush or chew the tablet in the mouth. take it immediately after peeling it from the strip.

How it works
Painact SP Tablet contains paracetamol, aceclofenac and serratiopeptidase. Paracetamol and Aceclofenac work by blocking the formation of certain chemical messengers in your brain that causes fever, pain and swelling. Serratiopeptidase reduces swelling and redness by breaking down certain abnormal proteins present at the site of the swelling and promotes healing.
