Description
Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is a combination of Dapagliflozin and Metformin. It is an anti-diabetic medicine used for the treatment of type II diabetes (improper way of regulating or using sugar in your body) in adults. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet works by lowering the blood sugar level in your body. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet may cause side effects like increased thirst, constipation, dry mouth, etc. These side effects may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if it bothers you for a longer time or worsens. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is a prescription medicine. It should be taken with food or as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will suggest the dose and duration depending on the severity of your condition. It is not safe to take more than the recommended dose. Take it every day at the same time for the ease of remembering and for its effectiveness. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet may show best results when taken along with proper diet and exercise. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended for use if you have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Allergy

Type 1 Diabetes mellitus

Type 1 diabetes, also known as insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision. Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Pregnancy

Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended for use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are breastfeeding due to serious side effects. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Dehydration

Use of Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet may lead to dehydration. In case of severe diarrhoea, vomiting, reduced fluid intake, and fever, consult your doctor immediately.

Lactic acidosis

Use of Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet may cause lactic acidosis. It is a condition of acid built up in your body characterized by low oxygen level, muscle cramps, abdominal pain, etc. If you experience these symptoms consult your doctor on priority.

Amputaion

Use Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet with caution as it increases the lower leg amputation (removal of limb). The risk is higher when you previously had a leg amputation, foot ulcer, nerve damage, circulatory (blood flow), and heart problem.

Surgery

Use of Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is to be discontinued at the time of surgery under anaesthesia (agent used to numb the body to pain sensation). Therapy should not be restarted within 48 hours of surgery. Your doctor may suggest a test to closely monitor your kidney function and check its stability in order to restart the therapy.

Use in children

Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Driving and operating machines

Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet may cause dizziness. Hence, avoid driving or operating machines after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the recommended dose. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose with Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet.

How it works
Oxramet 5/1000 Tablet is a combination of Dapagliflozin and Metformin. Dapagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption from the kidneys and lowers blood glucose levels. Metformin decreases glucose production in your liver and decreases glucose absorption from the intestine making it more sensitive to insulin.
