Description
Ovral G Tablet is a medicine that contains Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. It is used as a contraceptive (to prevent an unwanted pregnancy). This medicine works by preventing ovulation (release and fertilization of egg). Ovral G Tablet has some side effects like headache, dizziness, spotty menstruation, increased blood pressure, etc. These side effects may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms bother you for a long time or worsen. Ovral G Tablet can be taken with or without food. Follow the instructions given by your doctor while taking this medicine. It is usually taken from day one of your menstrual cycle and continued for a complete month. Do not stop taking this medicine without completing the course as it may lead to pregnancy. Ovral G Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems before taking this medicine. It is not recommended for use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Cardiovascular diseases

Ovral G Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a history of heart or blood vessels disorders like heart attack, blood clotting disorders, etc., due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Liver disease

Ovral G Tablet is not recommended for use if you have liver problems as it may lead to worsening of your condition.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding

Ovral G Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a condition of abnormal vaginal bleeding and vaginal cancer.

Uncontrolled hypertension

Effect on menstrual cycle

Use of Ovral G Tablet can affect your menstrual cycle. It may also make the bleeding light or heavy. Consult your doctor if you experience any of the side effects of this medicine for more than five days of starting the course.

Sexually transmitted disease

Ovral G Tablet will not provide any protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

Driving or operating machines

Ovral G Tablet may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and tiredness in some people. Avoid performing activities such as driving vehicles and operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms after taking this medicine.

Surgeries

Ovral G Tablet should not be taken before four weeks of a surgical procedure and two weeks after surgery as it may cause thromboembolism (obstruction to the blood flow due to formation of clots in the blood vessels). Your doctor may prescribe a suitable alternative based on your clinical condition.

Depression

Use of Ovral G Tablet has been associated with an increase in the symptoms of depression. Inform your doctor if you notice any change in your mood and behaviour.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition of increased blood sugar levels. Use Ovral G Tablet with caution if you have diabetes as this medicine may alter your blood sugar levels.

Other medicines

Ovral G Tablet is known to interact with many other medicines and cause severe side effects. Report all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements to your doctor before beginning therapy with this medicine.

Use in children

Ovral G Tablet is not recommended for use in children who have not reached menarche (the first occurrence of menstruation).

Cigarette smoking

Missed Dose
