Description

Nusar-ATN Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to losartan, any other angiotensin receptor blockers, atenolol, any other beta-blockers, or any other inactive ingredients present along with these medicines.

Cardiogenic shock

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from a cardiogenic shock due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Heart block greater than first degree

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a heart block greater than first degree due to the increased risk of worsening the patient's condition.

Sinus Bradycardia

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of sinus bradycardia since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Uncompensated cardiac failure

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of uncompensated cardiac failure since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Severe pulmonary edema

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of severe pulmonary edema due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Aliskiren

Coadministration of aliskiren and this medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

General warnings

Cardiac Failure

This medicine can cause heart failure and reduced blood flow in patients having a heart disease. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Major surgery

This medicine should be used with caution in patients who are scheduled to undergo a major surgery. An anesthetic agent with little negative inotropic activity should be selected to minimize the effect on the heart.

Lung Diseases

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases who do not respond to other antihypertensive medications. Start with the lowest possible dose and increase the dose based on the clinical condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases.

Hyperlipidemia

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hyperlipidemia since it may alter the serum lipid profiles. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor's supervision.

Sports

Athletes are advised not to indulge in certain sports while using this medicine. Archery, racing, shooting and other high-risk sports should be avoided. Sportspersons should refer to the list of medicines published by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which are not to be taken while participating in specific sports events.

Hyperthyroidism

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients with increased thyroid hormone levels. Abrupt withdrawal of this medicine may lead to a life-threatening condition called thyroid-storm. Frequent monitoring of thyroid hormone levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Hypotension

Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or patients who are treated with high-dose diuretics. It is advised to correct this condition before initiating treatment with this medicine or start the treatment at the lowest effective dose.

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may increase the potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Impaired liver function

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of severe liver impairment due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. In patients with mild to moderate liver function impairment, this medicine should be used with extreme caution. Close monitoring of liver function tests, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Pediatric population

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Missed Dose

Bradyarrhythmia/ AV Block

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with Sinus Bradyarrhythmia or a heart block greater than the first degree due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Glaucoma

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with glaucoma because it may lower the intraocular pressure and worsen the patient's condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Diabetes

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a history of diabetes since it may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia such as tremors, tachycardia, and blood pressure changes. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended for such patients. Pheochromocytoma

How it works
