Nintedanib

Description

Nintedanib is an anticancer medicine which is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease that causes scarring of the lungs. This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

Use in children

Side effects

This medicine may cause side effects such as diarrhea, nausea or vomiting in some patients on therapy. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause dizziness, visual disturbances, and tiredness. Hence, it is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery during treatment with this medicine.

Liver impairment

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with mild liver impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative might be required in some cases. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver impairment.

Smoking

Smoking may alter the desired effects of Nintedanib and hence it is advised to avoid smoking while taking this medicine.

Gastrointestinal Diseases

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from stomach or intestine problems due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Renal impairment

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Hepatic impairment
