Description
Moxikind-TZ Tablet is a combination of antibiotics, namely Amoxycillin and Tinidazole. It is used orally to treat many types of bacterial infections of the stomach, intestine and urinary tract. Your doctor may also prescribe this medicine to treat sexually transmitted diseases. Moxikind-TZ Tablet kills the infection-causing bacteria and prevents further spread. Moxikind-TZ Tablet should be taken with food and every day at the same time to get the desired result. Take the tablet as a whole without crushing or breaking it. Avoid consuming more than the prescribed dose and make sure that the course of treatment must be completed as directed by your doctor. Moxikind-TZ Tablet show some side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and skin rash. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist for a long time. Avoid taking this medicine if you have a known allergy to it and discontinue if any allergic reactions (skin rash, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), swelling of face, lips, etc.) are experienced. Moxikind-TZ Tablet can cause drowsiness. Avoid the consumption of alcohol while you take this medicine as it may cause excessive drowsiness. Also, do not drive or perform any activity that needs mental alertness while you take Moxikind-TZ Tablet. Moxikind-TZ Tablet can interact with other medications and health conditions. To make sure this Tablet is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have had any medical condition or disorders of the kidney, heart or liver, etc. Inform your doctor about any other medications that you are taking. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

Allergy

Avoid taking Moxikind-TZ Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Warnings for special population

Pregnancy

Moxikind-TZ Tablet is not safe to use in pregnant women, especially in the 1st trimester. However, your doctor may prescribe you this medicine if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Breast-feeding

Moxikind-TZ Tablet is known to pass into breastmilk. It may cause diarrhoea and skin allergy to the baby. Avoid breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Discuss the potential benefits and risks with your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings

Blood cell count

In people with low blood cell count, prolong therapy with Moxikind-TZ Tablet is reported to further decrease the cell count. Your doctor may switch the therapy based on the clinical condition.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Moxikind-TZ Tablet, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (when infection-causing organisms develop the ability to defeat the effect of drugs designed to kill them). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Moxikind-TZ Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Moxikind-TZ Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits in some people. Avoid driving or operating machines after taking this medicine.

Neurologic Toxicity

Moxikind-TZ Tablet may cause neurological effects like convulsions and peripheral neuropathy. Inform your doctor if you have any neurological problems. Any symptoms like convulsions, tingling or burning sensation of hands and feet should be reported to your doctor.

Impaired liver function

Moxikind-TZ Tablet may cause liver injury. The levels of liver enzymes should be obtained before initiating the therapy. Any signs of elevation in the liver enzymes should be informed to your doctor. He may discontinue the treatment until the levels are normal.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a Moxikind-TZ Tablet dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose on time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never take Moxikind-TZ Tablet more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis (kissing disease) is an infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It is spread through saliva. People with mononucleosis may develop a maculopapular skin rash (flat and small raised bumps on the skin) after 5-10 days of treatment with Moxikind-TZ Tablet that resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Moxikind-TZ Tablet may not be appropriate medicine in people with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Moxikind-TZ Tablet can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use Moxikind-TZ Tablet with extreme caution if you have stomach and intestinal diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen your condition.

Kidney Disease

Moxikind-TZ Tablet is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. People with medical conditions of the kidney need special consideration while taking Moxikind-TZ Tablet due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment may be done by the doctor based on the clinical condition.

Lab interactions

Urine Sugar Test

Moxikind-TZ Tablet is moved out from the body via urine. High urine concentrations of Moxikind-TZ Tablet might give a false-positive result for the urine sugar test (test to determine the presence of glucose). Inform your doctor or lab technician about the use of Moxikind-TZ Tablet before doing this test.

Take Moxikind-TZ Tablet with food. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may lead to a recurrence of the infection making it difficult to treat. Discontinue Moxikind-TZ Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing. Do not drink alcohol during or for 2-3 days after treatment with this medicine. You may develop nausea, vomiting, flushing and headache. Inform your doctor if you have liver problems. Your dose may need to be adjusted in such a condition. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet in your mouth.

Moxikind-TZ Tablet contains two antibiotics : Amoxycillin and Tinidazole. Amoxicillin kills bacteria by preventing the formation of a protective covering of bacteria. Tinidazole kills the bacteria by damaging their DNA.
