Moclobemide

Description

Moclobemide is used in the treatment of depression and social phobia. It belongs to the class of medicines called antidepressants. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

General warnings

Hypotension

This medicine may lower the blood pressure levels and therefore should be used with caution in patients with hypotension (low blood pressure) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of blood pressure levels, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Liver impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an impaired liver function due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Kidney impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an impaired kidney function due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Hyponatremia

This medicine may decrease the blood sodium levels in some patients. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Other medicines

Driving or Operating machinery

Suicidal tendencies

This medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of suicidal tendencies. This risk is especially higher in young patients. Patients should be closely monitored for any change in mood or behavior. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
