Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of gastric ulceration due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of Stevens-Johnson syndrome which is a rare but serious disorder of the skin due to the increased risk of adverse effects.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) since it may cause increased difficulty in passing urine.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) due to the increased risk of serious and life-threatening side effects. A time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained between stopping therapy with MAOIs and starting therapy with this medicine.

Hypertension

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe hypertension since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Ventricular tachycardia

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with ventricular tachycardia since it may worsen the condition of the patient.

Causes sleepiness

How it works
Dextromethorphan blocks the signals from the brain that trigger cough reflex and thus it helps in suppressing the cough. Phenylephrine acts by reducing the swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passages, making it easier to breathe. Ambroxol works by promoting mucus clearance and easing a productive cough. Chlorpheniramine blocks the action of certain substances produced by the body which induce allergic reactions. Menthol causes a feeling of coolness and also reduces itching and pain.
