Description
Metspot CT Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of a mild to moderate increase in the blood pressure. Frequent monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes levels is necessary during treatment with this medicine. Patients are advised to follow a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with anuria, a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine.

Severe renal impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl < 30 ml/min) due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Severe liver impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Heart diseases

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with serious heart problems such as a heart block, heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, etc. due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Circulatory disorders

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from blood circulation disorders since it may worsen the patient's condition.

General warnings

Volume and electrolyte disturbances

This medicine may alter the blood volume and electrolytes levels in some patients. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance. This risk is especially higher in patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases. Close monitoring of blood pressure and electrolytes levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Renal impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of renal diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of renal function is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Driving or operating machines

This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery during treatment with this medicine if you experience any of these symptoms.

Ischemic Heart Disease

This medicine should not be discontinued abruptly in patients suffering from ischemic heart disease since abrupt discontinuation may worsen the patient's condition. The dosage should be reduced gradually over a period of 1 to 2 weeks along with close monitoring of heart function before discontinuation of therapy.

Major surgery

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients undergoing a major surgery due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended for such patients.

Pheochromocytoma

This medicine should be administered with extreme caution in patients suffering from pheochromocytoma, a condition which results in an excess of a substance that controls heartbeat and blood pressure. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Bronchospastic Disease

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients with a disease of the lung or the airways leading to the lungs such as pneumonia, asthma, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Hyperthyroidism

How it works
Metoprolol relaxes the blood vessels and reduces the heart rate, promoting a smooth flow of blood. Chlorthalidone increases the excretion of water and sodium from the kidneys. Their combination is thus effective in reducing the blood pressure.
