Description

Metoclopramide (Agron) 5 mg Syrup is an antiemetic which is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It works by blocking the action of a chemical substance that causes nausea and vomiting. It is not recommended for use in patients with gastrointestinal disorders like gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or gastrointestinal perforation.

  • Allergy

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Metoclopramide (Agron) 5 mg Syrup.
  • Gastrointestinal disorders

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with gastrointestinal disorders like gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, and gastrointestinal perforation.
  • Seizure disorder

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of seizures.
  • Pheochromocytoma

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with conditions like pheochromocytoma due to an increase in the risk of hypertensive crisis (very severe increase in the blood pressure).

These symptoms will usually appear within the first 6 months of the treatment and subside within 2 to 3 months after discontinuation of the treatment.

General warnings

  • Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)

    - Metoclopramide (Agron) 5 mg Syrup is known to cause Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome which is characterized by hyperthermia (fever), muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness. Report to the doctor immediately if these symptoms appear. Discontinue Metoclopramide (Agron) 5 mg Syrup treatment if the symptoms persist.
  • Depression

    - Metoclopramide (Agron) 5 mg Syrup may cause depression in patients with or without the prior history of depression. Any symptoms of change in behavior or suicidal thoughts should be informed to the doctor on priority. Discontinue the treatment if the symptoms worsen.
