Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea

Megapime XP 1 g Injection may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhoea. Your doctor may discontinue the medicine if severe diarrhoea occurs after its use.

Drug-resistance

Usage of Megapime XP 1 g Injection without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of the development of bacteria that are drug-resistant (not affected by the medicine).

Neurotoxicity

Megapime XP 1 g Injection may increase the risk of serious side effects such as encephalopathy (altered brain function), seizures (fits), and nonconvulsive status epilepticus (altered mental state) in some people. Report any incidence of tremors, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, etc., to your doctor on priority.

Hypersensitivity reactions

How it works
Megapime XP 1 g Injection is a combination of Cefipime and Tazobactam. Cefipime works by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis. Tazobactam inhibits some of the chemicals produced by the bacteria and makes the bacteria more sensitive to cefepime activity. Thus, their combination becomes effective against an extended range of bacteria.
