Description

Megapime 250 MG Injection is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is used to treat a variety of conditions caused by bacteria in the lungs, urinary tract, and abdomen. The intramuscular injection is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli.

General warnings

Allergy

Avoid taking this medicine if you have a known allergy to it or any other Beta-lactam antibiotics like penicillins and cephalosporins. Seek immediate medical attention if the patient experiences any allergic symptoms like rash, itching, nausea or vomiting, swelling of lips, hands, and feet.

Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea

Avoid if you experience severe diarrhea after receiving Megapime 250 MG Injection. As antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora in the large intestine which promotes the growth of bacteria called clostridium difficile.

Drug-resistance

Usage of Megapime 250 MG Injection without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that is drug resistant.

Impaired kidney function

Use with caution if you have a preexisting kidney disease. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made based of CrCl or eGFR.

Neurotoxicity

Megapime 250 MG Injection may increase the risk of serious adverse effects like encephalopathy, seizures, and nonconvulsive status epilepticus. These reactions may occur in the patients with impaired kidney function with no proper dose adjustment.

Missed Dose

The missed dose should be taken as soon possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it's already time for your next scheduled dose.

Impaired kidney function

The blood concentration of intravenous Megapime 250 MG Injection may increase in the patients suffering from impaired kidney function. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made based on the severity of the condition. Frequent monitoring of kidney function tests is necessary.

Colitis

Avoid if you experience severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and blood in stools after taking Megapime 250 MG Injection. Inform the doctor if you are suffering from any gastrointestinal diseases. Drink adequate amount of water to prevent dehydration.

Impaired liver function

Use with caution if you have any liver disease or a family history of liver disease. Regular liver function tests are to be performed. Inform the doctor if you have any liver disease or if you develop any undesired effect.

Seizure disorders

Use with caution if you have any seizure disorder or a family history of seizures. Appropriate dose adjustments are to be made if you are suffering from a kidney disease. Discontinue if seizure is due to Megapime 250 MG Injection. Start with appropriate anticonvulsant medicine if it is clinically indicated.
