Description

Magaldrate is a complex of aluminum and magnesium that is used to relieve heartburn, sour stomach, acid ingestion, upset stomach, etc. The absorption of aluminum ions is very less in this form, so the side effects associated with aluminum are less compared when compared to aluminum hydroxide.

Hypermagnesemia

Use of this medicine may increase the magnesium levels in the blood. The risk is especially higher in patients suffering from kidney diseases. Report any symptoms such as flushing of the skin, increased thirst, difficulty in breathing, changes in heart rate, etc. to the doctor immediately. Close monitoring of magnesium levels, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Kidney diseases

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Other medicines
