Lubiprostone

Description

Lubiprostone is a chloride channel activator used in the treatment of certain types of constipation such as chronic idiopathic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, and opioid-induced constipation. This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

Syncope and Hypotension

This medicine should be used with caution since it may increase the risk of low blood pressure and syncope. You may require a dose adjustment and more frequent clinical monitoring while receiving this medicine. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
