Description
Lorfast AM Syrup is a combination medicine which is used for the treatment of a cough that produces mucus or phlegm. It may also be used to treat conditions with the abnormal mucus secretion, allowing the patient to breathe freely and deeply.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of Stevens-Johnson syndrome which is a rare but serious disorder of the skin due to the increased risk of adverse effects.

Gastric ulceration

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of gastric ulceration due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

General warnings

Liver Disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Use in Elderly

This medicine is not recommended for use in the elderly as the risk of adverse effects are very high.

Cough suppressants

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients taking cough suppressants since they have opposite effects. Coadministration of these medicines may result in severe adverse effects and worsen the patient's condition.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

How it works
Ambroxol works by promoting mucus clearance and easing a productive cough. Loratadine works by reducing a chemical substance called Histamine from the body. Guaifenesin works by reducing the thickness of mucus in the air passages; this makes it easier to cough up the mucus and clear the airways.
