Description
Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is a combination of Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure). It also prevents further chances of heart attack (the flow of blood to the heart is blocked) and stroke (a brain condition that occurs due to disruption in blood supply to the brain). This medicine works by eliminating excess water and salt from your body. It also relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet shows common side effects such as cough, headache, diarrhoea, stomach upset, nausea, and tiredness. These side effects usually subside with time. However, consult your doctor for further assistance if they persist or worsen. Avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines if you feel dizzy after taking this medicine. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet may be taken with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take the tablet at the same time daily for the ease of remembering. Avoid the consumption of alcohol while taking the medicine as it can cause side effects such as low blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, etc. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Avoid taking the medicine if you have heart failure (inability of the heart to pump sufficient blood throughout the body), slow heartbeats, AV block (electrical signals that control heartbeat are disturbed causing slow or irregular heartbeat), or anuria (a condition in which the kidney is unable to produce urine). Lodoz 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver or kidney problems, glaucoma (an eye condition that causes an increase in fluid pressure within the eyes), thyroid problem (abnormal production of hormones by the thyroid gland), or diabetes (high blood sugar level). Consult your doctor if you have any other medical conditions or taking any medications before starting the treatment with Lodoz 2.5 Tablet. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age due to insufficient safety and efficacy data. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking the medicine.

Allergy

Cardiogenic shock

Cardiogenic shock is an emergency condition where your heart suddenly stops pumping blood throughout your body. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended in such cases as it may further worsen your condition.

Heart block greater than first degree/ AV block

Heart block is when your heartbeats are abnormally slow or irregular. First-degree heart block is the least severe, second-degree heart block is severe and can often progress to third-degree heart block, the most severe form. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended if you have a heart block greater than the first degree as it may worsen your condition.

Sinus Bradycardia

Bradycardia or slow heartbeat is when your heart beats less than 60 times per minute. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended if you have sinus bradycardia as it may worsen your condition.

Anuria

Anuria is a condition in which your kidney is unable to produce urine. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended for use if you have anuria as it may worsen your condition.

Overt heart failure

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended if you have severe heart failure (inability of the heart to pump sufficient blood throughout the body) with predominant symptoms, as it can worsen your condition.

Pregnancy

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless necessary. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet may pass into breastmilk. Hence if you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings

Hyperuricaemia

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution if you have hyperuricaemia (an excess of uric acid in the blood) as this medicine decreases uric acid excretion from the body.

Liver condition

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have liver problems due to an increase in the risk of serious side effects. Report any symptoms of confusion or jaundice (yellow skin discolouration due to an increased level of a yellowish substance called bilirubin in the blood) to your doctor on priority.

Lupus erythematosus

Lupus erythematosus is a serious condition that occurs when the immune system attacks your own body causing swelling, fatigue, joint pain, rash, fever, etc. Lodoz 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution if you have or have had lupus erythematosus, as it may further trigger or aggravate such condition.

Thyroid condition

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution if you have a thyroid condition (abnormal production of hormones by the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of the neck). Follow all the instructions given by your doctor. Avoid discontinuing this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Surgery

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet can interact with anaesthesia and affect the functioning of the heart, which is not suitable for major surgery. Inform your doctor about this medicine if you plan to undergo any kind of surgery.

Use in children

Lodoz 2.5 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.

Driving vehicles or operating machines

Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy after taking Lodoz 2.5 Tablet.

Kidney conditions
