Description
J P Flox OZ Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Ofloxacin and ornidazole. It is a prescription medicine used to treat diarrhoea caused by bacteria and parasites (micro-organisms that live in other's bodies and use their nutrients to reproduce) in adults. J P Flox OZ Tablet works by killing the bacteria and parasite by blocking their reproduction process. J P Flox OZ Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, headache and stomach pain. Usually, these side effects are self-resolving. Avoid driving and operating machines after taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. J P Flox OZ Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. J P Flox OZ Tablet is an oral medication, that should be taken with food for better absorption. Take this medicine at the prescribed time to maintain its steady levels in your body. Avoid taking this medicine more than the prescribed dose as an overdose may harm you. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of the treatment even if you feel better after taking a few doses. J P Flox OZ Tablet cautiously if you are having tendon rupture (injuries), brain or kidney disease. Allergy

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

J P Flox OZ Tablet can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Avoid taking J P Flox OZ Tablet if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a condition of skeletal muscle weakness characterized by severe muscle pain, including the arms and legs. J P Flox OZ Tablet is not recommended for use if you have myasthenia gravis as it may worsen your health condition.

Pregnancy

J P Flox OZ Tablet is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Breast-feeding

J P Flox OZ Tablet is not recommended to be used during breastfeeding. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Once breastfeeding gets resumed after the therapy, the baby should be observed for diarrhoea and yeast infection (diaper rash or a thick white coating on your baby’s tongue). .
General warnings

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with J P Flox OZ Tablet, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Photosensitivity

J P Flox OZ Tablet may make you highly sensitive to sunlight or UV (ultraviolet) radiation. You are advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid reactions to sunlight during treatment with this medicine.

Muscle damage

J P Flox OZ Tablet can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Drowsiness

J P Flox OZ Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Do not drive a vehicle or operate a machine after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a J P Flox OZ Tablet dose take it as soon as you remember. If the time of your next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of J P Flox OZ Tablet, contact your doctor immediately.

QT Prolongation

J P Flox OZ Tablet may affect your heart. It causes QT prolongation (changes in the ECG of your heart). Use it cautiously if you have heart problems.

Kidney diseases

J P Flox OZ Tablet is excreted by kidneys. An impaired kidney cannot filter out this medicine properly and accumulation of this medicine takes place in your kidneys. This can worsen your kidney condition.

How it works
J P Flox OZ Tablet is a combination of Ornidazole and Ofloxacin. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting an enzyme required for the bacterial DNA to replicate; this blocks the multiplication and growth and results in the eventual death of the bacteria. Ornidazole works by inhibiting the growth of protozoa or bacteria by interfering with the protein formation process, leading to the death of the bacteria or protozoa.
