Description

Imidapril is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. Patients are advised to follow a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

Allergy

Coadministration of aliskiren and this medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

General warnings

Hypotension

This medicine may cause hypotension (low blood pressure), especially when used in combination with other high blood pressure medicines such as diuretics. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments should be done based on the clinical condition.

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may significantly increase the potassium levels in the blood. This may cause serious adverse effects. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Diabetes mellitus

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment.

Cough

This medicine may cause a persistent nonproductive cough in some patients. It is resolved when the medicine is discontinued.

Imidapril may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
