Ibrutinib

Description

Ibrutinib is used for the treatment of a certain type of cancers that affects the blood cells and lymph nodes. It is also used to treat chronic graft vs host disease, a complication that might occur after a bone marrow transplant.

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment.

Lung Toxicity

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a history of interstitial lung disease presenting with acute onset of new or progressive unexplained pulmonary symptoms such as dyspnea, cough, and fever pending diagnostic evaluation due to the increased risk of the lung toxicity. Close monitoring of lung function is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Kidney impairment

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Tumor Lysis Syndrome

This medicine should be used with extreme caution due to the increased risk of tumor lysis syndrome. This risk is especially higher in patients suffering from electrolyte abnormalities and kidney diseases. Close monitoring of the clinical condition, appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.
