Description
Hyocimax MF Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat menstrual cramps and pain. It effectively works to reduce the menstrual cramp, pain and discomfort caused during the menstrual periods. Menstrual cramps or pain occurs in the lower stomach which may happen before or during the menstrual period. This medicine relaxes the stomach and gut muscles that cause cramps. It also blocks the chemical messengers that initiate pain and swelling. The common side effects of Hyocimax MF Tablet are nausea, vomiting, dry mouth and heartburn. Most of these side effects do not need medical attention and subsides with time. However, if any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it in the past. This medicine may cause sleepiness or dizziness, so do not indulge in the work that requires high mental focus. Hyocimax MF Tablet can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will direct you to the dose based on your clinical condition. Do not self-medicate. Discuss with your doctor about all your known illnesses such as glaucoma, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, etc., and your active medications before taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding mother before starting the therapy.

Allergy

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a condition in which the normal communication between muscle and nerves get altered. It is characterized by weakness and rapid fatigue of the muscles under body control (voluntary control). Hyocimax MF Tablet may suppress the communication between the muscle and nerves leading to worsening of the condition.

Acute narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a condition in which the drainage canals of the eyes gets blocked leading to a sudden rise in eye pressure. Hyocimax MF Tablet may increase the risk of this condition by suppressing the fluid in the eyes. hence, it is not recommended to use in this condition.

Megacolon

Megacolon is the abnormal dilation of the colon. It may be the complication of diseases such as Inflammatory bowel disease and Crohn's disease (swelling of the intestine). Hyocimax MF Tablet is not recommended for use in patients suffering from megacolon due to the increased risk of colon relaxation and further serious adverse effects.

Paralytic or obstructive ileus

Paralytic or obstructive ileus is a condition in which there is a blockage in the intestine without any physical obstruction. It may occur due to the impairment of nerves and muscles of the intestine. Hyocimax MF Tablet may increase the risk of this condition as it may worsen the obstruction.

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG)

CABG is a procedure to treat coronary artery disease. In this, the blood bypasses the blockage blood vessel to reach the heart. Hyocimax MF Tablet may increase the risk of Thrombotic events (a blood clot that blocks the blood vessel) in these patients.

General warnings

Driving or operating machines

Use of Hyocimax MF Tablet may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Prostatic enlargement

Hyocimax MF Tablet should be used with caution in patients suffering from prostatic enlargement. This medicine increases the risk of urinary retention in these patients. Close monitoring of water intake and output is indicated. Consult your doctor if you experience pain in and above the genital area.

Peptic ulcer

Hyocimax MF Tablet should be used with caution in patients suffering from peptic ulcers or other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. It may increase the risk of ulcer bleeding and may also worsen the ulcers.

Allergic skin reaction

Use of Hyocimax MF Tablet can cause a series of allergic skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis). It should be stopped immediately if signs of a skin allergy are observed.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Hyocimax MF Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume at the scheduled time. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case you suspect Hyocimax MF Tablet overdose.

Cardiovascular disease

Caution should be exercised while using Hyocimax MF Tablet in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases. It may provoke side effects such as very low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness, irregular heart rate, difficulties with breathing, etc. Close monitoring of heart function is indicated.

Asthma

Use of Hyocimax MF Tablet should be avoided in patients suffering from aspirin-sensitive asthma. It should be used with caution in patients suffering from other forms of asthma or broncho-obstructive disorders.

Fluid Retention and edema

Hyocimax MF Tablet should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing fluid retention disorder. Fluid retention can be attributed to other conditions like hypertension, heart failure etc. Therapy with this medicine should begin only after these risk factors are ruled out.

Gastro-Intestinal toxicity

Hyocimax MF Tablet or other NSAIDs should be taken after consulting a doctor especially if the intended duration is longer than a month. Any symptom indicating ulceration and bleeding like chronic indigestion, the appearance of coffee coloured dry blood in stools or vomiting of blood should be reported immediately.

Impaired kidney function

Hyocimax MF Tablet is excreted through the kidneys. Impaired kidneys may increase the chance of accumulation of this medicine in the kidneys leading to severe effects or may worsen the condition. Your doctor may advise a dose adjustment or switch to alternative therapy based on the clinical condition.

Impaired liver function

Hyocimax MF Tablet is converted into an active form in the liver. The impaired liver may increase the chance of accumulation of this medicine in the liver and may worsen the condition. Your doctor may advise a dose adjustment or switch to alternative therapy based on the clinical condition.

Diazo test for urinary bile

Report the use of Hyocimax MF Tablet before undergoing the diazo test for determination of urinary bile content. This medicine can potentially yield a false-positive result.
Take Hyocimax MF Tablet exactly as instructed by the doctor. Take this medicine with or without food. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any severe side effects. Ensure that the course of treatment is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. How it works
Hyoscine Butylbromide relaxes the smooth muscles of the stomach, intestines, and the genito-urinary tract and relieves muscle spasms and cramps. It also suppresses the acid secretions that prevent sudden contractions and thus relieves cramps. Mefenamic acid works by blocking chemical messengers that cause pain and swelling in the body.
