Description
Histamet Tablet is a combination of Paracetamol, Caffeine and Chlorpheniramine Maleate. It is used to treat symptoms of allergy and common cold such as runny nose, fever, sneezing, cough, itchy and watery eyes, headache, fever, etc. This medicine works by blocking the action of certain chemicals (prostaglandins and histamine) and provides relief from common cold symptoms, pain, and fever. Histamet Tablet shows side effects like nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, restlessness etc. Most of these are temporary and get resolved with time. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you. Avoid performing any activity that requires mental focus like driving or operating machines as this medicine can make you sleepy. Histamet Tablet can be taken with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Complete the whole course to see maximum benefits. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor as your symptoms may reappear. Take this medicine around the same time every day so that a constant level of medicine can be maintained in your body. Histamet Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart problems. Also, inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, herbs, or supplements as they may interact with Histamet Tablet. General warnings

Chronic malnutrition

Proper nutrition and body weight are required for proper use Histamet Tablet. Malnutrition and fasting can increase the risk of toxicity. Dose adjustment should be done based on body weight.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy/Seizures is a disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal leading to abnormal jerking of the body. Use Histamet Tablet with caution if you have epilepsy since it increases the risk of seizures. Your doctor may adjust the dose or suggest another suitable medicine if required.

Driving or operating machines

Avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines while taking Histamet Tablet as it increases the risk of drowsiness, dizziness, and difficulty in concentration.

Kidney impairment

Histamet Tablet is excreted by your kidneys. Hence, use this medicine with caution if you have severe kidney impairment as it may increase the accumulation of this medicine in your body. Missed Dose

If you forget to take Histamet Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dosage then skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Asthma

5-HIAA Urine Test

Histamet Tablet can interfere with the urine test and may give a false test result. Inform your doctor and/or lab technician about all your current medications before undergoing any lab test.
Take Histamet Tablet with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet. Never take more or less than the prescribed dose of this medicine. Complete the course of treatment. Avoid discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if your symptoms have not improved within seven days of treatment.

How it works
Histamet Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Paracetamol, Caffeine, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate which relieve common cold symptoms. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain killer) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of prostaglandins that are responsible for pain and fever. Caffeine increases the effectiveness of Paracetamol. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic medicine that relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing.
