Description
Histacet Cold Oral Suspension is a combination of Cetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine. It is used to treat common cold symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, cough, watery eyes, and nasal congestion, etc. in children. It also relieves fever associated with the common cold. Histacet Cold Oral Suspension may cause some common side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, dryness in the mouth, and headache. This medicine may cause dizziness or sleepiness in some children. Inform your child's doctor if your child feels dizzy or sleepy after taking this medicine. Seek your doctor's consultation if these side effects do not resolve with time or worsen. Avoid giving this medicine to your child if he/she is allergic to it. Histacet Cold Oral Suspension can be given with food to your child to avoid an upset stomach. Your child's doctor will decide the dose and duration of this medicine based on the severity of your child's medical condition. If the treatment is stopped early, the symptoms may reoccur and your child's condition may worsen. Histacet Cold Oral Suspension should be used with caution if your child has any problems related to the liver, kidney, heart or asthma. This medicine may interact with other medicines. Inform your child's doctor if your child is on any medication.

Allergy

Severe liver impairment

Histacet Cold Oral Suspension gets broken down into its active form in the liver. Higher doses of this medicine may cause liver damage in your child. Therefore, this medicine is generally not recommended if your child has severe liver problems because it can further increase the risk of liver damage.

Chronic Malnutrition

Malnutrition and fasting can increase the risk of Histacet Cold Oral Suspension toxicity. Your doctor may adjust the dose of paracetamol if required based on your body weight.

Paracetamol poisoning is caused by the excessive use of Histacet Cold Oral Suspension accidentally or intentionally. It results in liver damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of paracetamol if required based on your child's body weight.

Missed Dose

If you missed a Histacet Cold Oral Suspension dose for your child, make sure that you remember to give the next dose when it is due. Do not give two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never give Histacet Cold Oral Suspension more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have given an overdose of this medicine, consult your child's doctor at the earliest.
