Hista-AM Tablet is a combination medicine which may be used for the treatment of a productive cough (wet cough), a cough that produces mucus or phlegm. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age unless prescribed by your physician.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which is a rare but serious disorder of the skin, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Breast-feeding

General warnings

CNS Depression

Use of this medicine may cause mild to moderate CNS depression, resulting in sleepiness, difficulty in concentrating, etc. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these side effects during treatment with this medicine.

Use in Elderly

This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly population due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Use in Children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Urinary retention

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with spinal cord lesions or prostatic hyperplasia since it may increase the risk of urinary retention. Ambroxol promotes mucus clearance and eases a productive cough. Levocetirizine works by blocking the action of a natural substance produced by the body which is responsible for causing allergic symptoms. Their combination is thus better effective for the treatment of a productive cough.
