Description
Gluserin Tablet is a medicine that contains Glucosamine and Diacerein. It is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis (a most common type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue (cartilage) at the ends of your bones wears down. Due to the absence of this protective covering, the joints rub against each other, leading to pain and stiffness. Gluserin Tablet works by preventing the breakdown of cartilage and thereby improving the symptoms of osteoarthritis. It helps your body by repairing cartilage and replenishing fluid around your joints (synovial fluid). It relieves pain and swelling due to osteoarthritis but does not cure it. Gluserin Tablet may cause some side effects like heartburn, nausea, stomach pain, urine discolouration, etc. Inform your doctor at the earliest if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Gluserin Tablet is to be taken with food for better absorption and to prevent stomach irritation. For the ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Your doctor will decide the dose of this medicine based on the severity of your condition. This medicine is slow-acting and is used alone or in combination as a long-term treatment option to treat joint pains. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Gluserin Tablet may not be suitable for all people. If you have diabetes or hyperlipidaemia, you should maintain caution during the entire treatment with Gluserin Tablet. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems and about all the medicines that you may be using before taking this medicine. Diarrhoea

Use of Gluserin Tablet may cause diarrhoea or loose stools in the first few days of treatment. Contact your doctor if the complication is not resolved within 3-4 days.

Antibiotics

Gluserin Tablet should not be taken with antibiotics as the risk of stomach irritation and persistent diarrhoea are significantly high.

Diagnostic tests

Urine discoloration

Missed Dose

Food interactions
A diet rich in fibres and phytates (the storage form of phosphates like peanuts and beans) may interfere with the absorption of Gluserin Tablet in your stomach. Hence, taking this medicine with a diet rich in fibres and phytates should be avoided.

How it works
Gluserin Tablet contains Glucosamine and Diacerein. Diacerein works by blocking the actions of a certain specific protein that causes swelling, pain, and degradation of cartilage at bone joints. Glucosamine works as a precursor for the production of certain chemicals which are responsible for building tendons, ligaments, thick fluid around the joints, and cartilage.
