Description
Glaritus 100 IU Injection is used for the treatment of diabetes in children and adults. It is a long-acting insulin that consistently works for several hours after injection and provides effective blood sugar control throughout the day. Glaritus 100 IU Injection may result in low blood sugar levels and you may feel hungry, irritable, dizzy, anxious, or shaky. It is always recommended to eat or drink a fast-acting source of sugar (fruit juice, candy, raisins, etc.) to quickly treat these symptoms. Consult your doctor if these symptoms stay for a long time or if they become severe. Other side effects include weight gain and reaction at the injection side such as redness, itchiness and swelling in the skin, thickening of the skin, etc. Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may also lower your blood sugar levels. Glaritus 100 IU Injection should be administered exactly as advised by your doctor. This medicine is injected under your skin. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. Do not skip doses or discontinue the treatment without consulting your doctor as it may cause an increase in your blood sugar levels. Follow a proper diet routine and do regular exercise along with this medicine to get the best results. Glaritus 100 IU Injection is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Do not use this medicine in children below 6 years of age. If you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, take this medication only if prescribed by your doctor.

General warnings

Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a condition of increased blood acids (ketones). Glaritus 100 IU Injection is not recommended for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis due to the delayed onset of action. Your doctor will determine the suitable treatment options based on your clinical condition.

Subcutaneous use only

Glaritus 100 IU Injection is meant for subcutaneous administration (under the skin) only. The long duration of action of this medicine is dependent on a subcutaneous administration. It should not be administered intravenously (into the veins) or intramuscularly (into the muscles).

Hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar levels)

Glaritus 100 IU Injection may cause low blood sugar levels. Hence, regular monitoring of your blood sugar levels is recommended. Your doctor may advise you to carry a sugar candy to counteract the effects of low blood sugar levels.

Use with other insulins

Glaritus 100 IU Injection should not be diluted or mixed with any other insulin or solution as it may alter the effects of other insulins when administered together and/or increase the risk of side effects.

Use in children

Glaritus 100 IU Injection is not recommended for use in children less than 6 years of age due to lack of safety and efficacy data.

Allergic Reactions at the injection Site

Injection site reactions that may occur with Glaritus 100 IU Injection include redness, pain, itching, swelling or hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting). Continuous rotation of the injection site within a given area is recommended to help reduce or prevent these reactions. These reactions usually resolve in a few days to a few weeks.

Driving or operating machines

Your ability to drive or operate machines may be negatively affected due to low or high blood glucose levels. Hence, avoid driving or operating machines if you experience any symptoms like dizziness, blurred vision, etc. while taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Glaritus 100 IU Injection, contact your doctor for further instructions. You should not use more than one dose in a 24-hour period unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

Overdose

Seek immediate medical attention or contact your doctor if an overdose of Glaritus 100 IU Injection is suspected. Hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose levels) may occur in case of an overdose with symptoms such as extreme weakness, blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, dizziness, confusion, etc. In cases of mild hypoglycemic episodes, oral glucose or sugary products can be used to avoid severe hypoglycaemia.
