Description
Gelusil MPS Original Liquid is a combination of Dried Aluminium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone. It is used in the treatment of acidity (excess production of acid in the stomach), gas and heartburn. Gelusil MPS Original Liquid works by neutralising excessive acid in the stomach and relieving symptoms such as indigestion, bloating, upset stomach, heartburn, gas, irritation in the food pipe, etc. Gelusil MPS Original Liquid may cause common side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, decrease in the sense of taste, etc. These side effects usually subside with time. However, consult your doctor for further assistance if they persist or worsen. Gelusil MPS Original Liquid should be taken 20 minutes to one hour after meals or as directed by your doctor. Avoid consumption of alcohol and food that can cause indigestion like deep-fried, spicy, or fatty foods, as it can worsen your condition. Eat a healthy and balanced diet and drink plenty of water. Gelusil MPS Original Liquid may not be safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your blood magnesium levels during treatment with this medicine.

Hypophosphataemia

Prolonged use of Gelusil MPS Original Liquid may decrease the levels of phosphorous in your body. This can lead to weak and brittle bones, muscle weakness and pain, fatigue, etc. If you experience any of these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor phosphorous levels during treatment with this medicine.

Phenylketonuria

Inform your doctor if you have phenylketonuria (an inherited condition that causes accumulation of amino acids in the body leading to brain and nerve damage), before taking the Gelusil MPS Original Liquid. Your doctor may closely monitor your clinical condition, or recommend appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative.

Missed Dose

Do not miss the dose of Gelusil MPS Original Liquid. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

How it works
Gelusil MPS Original Liquid is a combination of Dried Aluminium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone. Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide work by neutralising excess acid in the stomach. Simethicone connects and breaks down gas bubbles in the stomach for easy passing of gas through flatulence or belching (burping).
