Description
Gabantin Forte Tablet is a combination of Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin. It is used in the treatment of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage). Nerve damage may occur due to various conditions such as diabetes, cancer, spine disorders, thyroid problems, or HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) infection. Gabantin Forte Tablet works by blocking the movement of pain signals in your brain. It also helps in the formation of a protective covering (myelin) of the nerve fibres and repairs your damaged nerves. Gabantin Forte Tablet may cause side effects like sleepiness, dizziness, weakness, and loss of coordination. These side effects are temporary can usually resolve on their own. Consult your doctor if these side effects are worrying you. Keep a check of your mood and behaviour as this medicine can cause mood and behaviour changes like suicidal tendencies. In such cases, contact your doctor immediately. Gabantin Forte Tablet can be taken with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for the prescribed duration even if you feel better after few doses. Complete the whole course to see the maximum benefits. Gabantin Forte Tablet is not recommended in children less than 6 years of age. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems or any other medical conditions. You should not stop taking this medicine unless prescribed by your doctor. If stopped abruptly, you might experience withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, sweating, vomiting, depression, seizures, and hallucinations. Allergy

Avoid taking Gabantin Forte Tablet if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions are rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.

Use in elderly

Gastrointestinal surgery

The use of antacids may reduce the absorption of Gabantin Forte Tablet from your stomach and intestine. Hence appropriate time gap should be maintained between both medicines.

Suicidal thoughts

Close monitoring for any change in mood or behaviour is necessary while using Gabantin Forte Tablet as it may lead to suicidal tendencies. Report any mood changes to your doctor immediately so that counselling can be done. If the symptoms persist, your doctor may advise an alternate medicine.

Use in children

Gabantin Forte Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age since the safety and efficacy are not clinically established.

Withdrawal symptoms

Abrupt discontinuation of Gabantin Forte Tablet may increase the risk of anxiety, fatigue, sweating, vomiting, depression, seizures, and hallucinations, especially if you have been using a high dose for a long duration. A gradual dose reduction is recommended to avoid these reactions. You should not stop using this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Driving or operating machines

Use of Gabantin Forte Tablet may cause dizziness or confusion in some people. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Gabantin Forte Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Overdose

How it works
Gabantin Forte Tablet is composed of two medicines: Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin. Gabapentin works by interfering with the pain signals travelling through your damaged nerves and your brain.
