Description
Gabalip 100 Tablet is a medicine that contains Gabapentin as an active ingredient. It is used to treat partial-onset seizures in epilepsy. It is also used to treat postherpetic neuralgia (a painful condition that affects the nerve fibres and skin). Postherpetic neuralgia is a complication of shingles caused by the chickenpox virus which causes pain or burning sensation of the skin. Gabalip 100 Tablet can cause side effects like fatigue, loss of coordination, dry mouth, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects become severe. Avoid driving or operating machines as this medicine can cause dizziness, drowsiness and can affect your mental focus. This medicine may cause mood and behavioural changes. If you experience mood changes or suicidal thoughts, contact your doctor immediately. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Gabalip 100 Tablet can be taken with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Your dose will be dependant on your condition. You should keep taking this medicine for the prescribed duration, even if you feel better after few doses. Take this medicine same time every day for the ease of remembering. Gabalip 100 Tablet is not recommended in children less than 6 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or any other medical conditions. It is not recommended if you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If stopped abruptly, you might experience withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, sweating, vomiting, depression, seizures, and hallucinations.

Allergy

Suicidal tendencies

Gabalip 100 Tablet may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts in the first phase of the treatment. Therefore, it should be used with caution, especially if you suffer from depression. Changes in mood and behaviour if any are to be reported to the doctor. Your doctor may monitor your condition while on treatment with this medicine as needed.

Skin reactions

Gabalip 100 Tablet should be used with caution since it may cause skin reactions like Drug reactions with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS). The treatment should be discontinued if any symptoms of a skin rash appear.

Driving or operating machinery

Gabalip 100 Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating a machine if you experience any of these symptoms after taking this medicine.

Other medicines

Gabalip 100 Tablet may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe undesirable effects. Inform your doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Withdrawal symptoms

Missed Dose

Take this medicine around the same time every day to maintain a constant level in your body. Keep Gabalip 100 Tablet away from children and pets. Do not stop taking Gabalip 100 Tablet without consulting your doctor as this can worsen your condition. You may also experience withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, sweating, vomiting, depression, seizures, and hallucinations. Avoid taking this medicine with an antacid as it can reduce the absorption of Gabalip 100 Tablet. Avoid driving or performing any activity that requires mental focus as Gabalip 100 Tablet can cause sleepiness and/or drowsiness which can affect your ability to focus.

How it works
Gabalip 100 Tablet works by reducing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain, thus preventing seizures. Gabalip 100 Tablet is also used to treat nerve pain where it blocks pain by interfering with pain signals travelling through the damaged nerves and the brain.
