Description
Fusiderm B Cream is a combination medicine that consists of Betamethasone and Fusidic acid. It is used to provide relief from symptoms such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, rashes, discharge from the infected site associated with bacterial infections like eczema or dermatitis. This medicine works by stopping protein synthesis in bacteria and by blocking the release of certain chemical substances that cause swelling and irritation on the skin. Fusiderm B Cream may cause some side effects like dry skin, rashes, blistering of the skin, irritation or burning sensation at the site of application. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. Before beginning the treatment, your doctor may perform a patch test to check if this medicine is safe, non-allergenic for you. Stop using it if you experience severe allergic reactions like hives (rash or pale red bumps) and difficulty in breathing. It is not recommended for use in children below the age of 3 months. Fusiderm B Cream is for external use only. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer over the affected parts of the skin. Avoid direct contact with your eyes, nose and mouth. Rinse with water immediately if the medicine comes in contact with these areas. Fusiderm B Cream is best used twice a day morning and evening. It may take a few days for your condition to get better. Therefore, complete the whole treatment for its better result. Use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor for the advised duration only. Fusiderm B Cream should be used only after consultation with your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if the condition has not cleared up after one week of treatment.

Adrenal suppression is a condition in which the adrenal glands (the glands located at the top of your kidneys) do not produce enough hormones like adrenaline, aldosterone and cortisol. Use of Fusiderm B Cream can cause suppression of adrenal glands. Report any unusual symptoms like low blood pressure, skin darkening, or dizziness to the doctor immediately. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your hormonal levels during the treatment with this medicine.

Use in Children

Fusiderm B Cream is not recommended for use in children less than three months of age since the safety and efficacy data is not available.

Missed Dose

Apply the missed dose of Fusiderm B Cream as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

How it works
Betamethasone decreases the release of certain substances that cause swelling and irritation and also suppresses the activity of the immune system. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic which blocks protein synthesis in bacteria. When utilised together they stop the growth of bacteria and provide relief from its symptoms like swelling, irritation etc.
