Description
Furoxone 100 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that consists of Furazolidone. It is used to treat infectious diarrhoea. It relieves symptoms of diarrhoea like cramps, stomach pain and, loose stools by killing the microorganism causing diarrhoea. Furoxone 100 Tablet shows some common side effects like nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness, drowsiness, headache, etc. These side effects are rare and may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they bother you for a long time or worsen. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Furoxone 100 Tablet is to be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. Take it in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor. It is not safe to take more than the prescribed dose of this medicine as it may lead to undesirable effects. Take it every day at the same time for a better result. This will help to maintain the steady-state levels of this medicine in your blood. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better as your condition may relapse or worsen. Furoxone 100 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not available. G6PD is an enzyme responsible for keeping red blood cells healthy. G6PD deficiency is a disorder that affects red blood cells in your body. Use Furoxone 100 Tablet with extreme caution if you have G6PD deficiency as it may cause anaemia (low red blood cells in the blood).

Colitis

Furoxone 100 Tablet can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore, use Furoxone 100 Tablet with extreme caution if you have any gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen these conditions.
Food interactions
Avoid consumption of food or beverages containing high tyramine content like cheese, fish, fermented meat, overripe fruits, etc., while using Furoxone 100 Tablet.
