Description
Falcigo Plus Tablet is a combination medicine which may be used for the prevention and treatment of malaria. It is particularly effective in treating malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum strain of the parasite.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Artesunate, Mefloquine, quinine, quinidine, other artemisinins, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Quinine associated blackwater fever

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having a history of blackwater fever associated with quinine use.

Psychiatric disorders

This medicine is not recommended for preventive purposes in patients having psychiatric disorders like depression, anxiety, psychosis, schizophrenia, convulsions, etc. due to the increased risk of adverse effects.

Severe liver impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Halofantrine

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who are concomitantly taking another antimalarial medicine, Halofantrine due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings

Other medicines

This combination medicine may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Prolongation of QT interval

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of irregular heart rhythms. Therefore, it should be used with caution in patients with arrhythmias or any other heart diseases. Any symptoms of palpitations, difficulty in breathing should be reported to the doctor.

Drug Resistance

It is recommended to take this medicine for the entire prescribed duration even when symptoms improve or resolve. Failure to do so might result in drug resistance and treating any subsequent infection with the same medicine would be very difficult.

Epilepsy

Use of this medicine can cause convulsions and hence it should be used with caution in people having epilepsy or other convulsion disorders.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause blurred vision or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Psychiatric disorders

Use of this medicine can cause depression, agitation, anxiety, psychoses. Patients should be screened for any such disorder before initiating the treatment course with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Contact your doctor immediately if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms may include dizziness, change in pulse, fall in blood pressure, and convulsions.
