Description
Enace D 10 Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Enalapril. It is used for the treatment of high blood pressure when a single medicine is not effective. It helps in reducing the risk of future heart complications such as heart attack (blockage of heart muscles due to the formation of plaques) and stroke (brain damage that occurs when the blood flow to a part of the brain is reduced or interrupted). Enace D 10 Tablet helps in relaxing the blood vessels, thereby controlling high blood pressure. Enace D 10 Tablet shows side effects such as headache, cough, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, weakness, dizziness, and low blood pressure. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. If you feel dizzy or tired, avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines. Enace D 10 Tablet can be taken with or without food. For ease of remembering, take it around the same time every day. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose. You may have to take this medicine for the long-term depending on your condition. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so. Enace D 10 Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have any medical condition or taking any other medication to make sure this medicine is safe for you. Enace D 10 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established. Allergy

Avoid taking Enace D 10 Tablet if you are allergic to it. If you notice any symptoms such as a skin rash, itching/swelling (of your face, tongue or any part of your body), dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc., seek immediate medical attention.

Aliskiren

Combined use of Enace D 10 Tablet and Aliskiren (a drug used to treat high blood pressure) is not recommended if you have diabetes (high blood sugar levels) or kidney problems.

Anuria

Anuria is a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine. Enace D 10 Tablet is not recommended if you have anuria, as it may worsen your condition.

Angioedema

Enace D 10 Tablet is not recommended if you have hereditary angioedema (a rare genetic condition that causes swelling under the skin) or a history of idiopathic angioedema (angioedema without a known cause). It is also not recommended for use if you have a history of angioedema associated with the previous use of ACE inhibitors (a class of medicines used for the treatment of high blood pressure, such as Ramipril, Lisinopril, Captopril, Perindopril, Fosinopril, Enalapril, etc.).

Enace D 10 Tablet is unsafe for use during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the developing foetus. Hence consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Enace D 10 Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary. Discuss all the risks and benefits with your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings

Liver Disease

Enace D 10 Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver problems, as this medicine may further worsen your condition. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your liver function while on treatment with this medicine. If you notice any symptoms of jaundice like yellow discolouration of your skin, eyes, and nails or light, clay-coloured stools, abdominal pain, fever, chills, etc., inform your doctor immediately.

Volume and electrolyte depletion

Enace D 10 Tablet should be used with caution as it may alter the blood volume levels and electrolyte levels in your body. Therefore, if you are taking this medicine, your blood pressure and electrolyte levels need to be monitored regularly.

Kidney disease

Enace D 10 Tablet may cause azotemia (elevated levels of urea and other nitrogen compounds in the blood) if you have kidney problems. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your kidney function while you are taking this medicine.

Hypotension

Enace D 10 Tablet should be used with caution as it can cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure), especially in conditions such as volume depletion (reduction in extracellular fluid volume that occurs due to salt and fluid losses) or if you are treated with high dose diuretics (substances that increases urine production). It is necessary to correct the condition before taking this medicine.

Hyperkalaemia

Enace D 10 Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause hyperkalaemia (a condition with an increase in the potassium levels in the blood). Your doctor may monitor your blood potassium levels periodically while on treatment with this medicine.

Use in Children

Enace D 10 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age due to the lack of safety and efficacy data.

Driving and operating machines

Enace D 10 Tablet may cause dizziness or blurred vision in some people. Do not drive vehicles or operate heavy machines if you experience such symptoms after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip the dose of Enace D 10 Tablet. In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the dose if the delay has been for more than 12 hours. Take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Contact your doctor in case you suspect an overdose of Enace D 10 Tablet.

Take Enace D 10 Tablet with or without food. Do not take in larger amounts than prescribed. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablet. Swallow as a whole with sufficient water. You may feel dizzy after taking this medicine. Hence, get up slowly from your sitting position and avoid driving vehicles and operating heavy machines. Avoid taking potassium supplements or potassium-rich food, as this medicine can cause hyperkalaemia (high blood potassium levels). Keep a check on your blood pressure while taking Enace D 10 Tablet.
