How it works
Acebrophylline works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways in the lung and windpipe. It also regulates the production and movement of mucus from the windpipe. It also acts on certain substances that cause irritation and swelling of the airways. Guaifenesin works by reducing the thickness of mucus in the air passages; this makes it easier to cough up the mucus and clear the airways. Terbutaline works by relaxing and opening the blocked air passages leading to the lungs. This improves airflow into the lungs and makes breathing easier.
