Nerve damage can occur due to various conditions like diabetes, cancer, spine disorders, thyroid problems, or HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) infection. This medicine is known to cause sleepiness and/or drowsiness, so avoid doing activities that require mental focus like driving or operating heavy machinery. Keep a check on your mood and behaviour as this medicine can cause mood and behaviour changes like suicidal tendencies. Dutam-Plus Tablet can be taken with or without food, preferably at dinner time. Try taking this medicine around the same time every day to maintain a constant level in your body. Take this medicine for the prescribed duration even if you feel better after few doses. Complete the whole course to see the maximum benefits. If you forget to take a dose of Dutam-Plus Tablet, take it as soon as you remember it. However, do not double up the next dose to compensate for the missed dose. Dutam-Plus Tablet is not recommended in children and patients with a history of a heart attack. Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or other diseases as they might change the therapeutic effects of this medicine. Your doctor may adjust your dose to use this medicine safely. How it works
Dutam-Plus Tablet is composed of Gabapentin and Nortriptyline. Gabapentin alters the calcium channel activity of the nerve cells and interferes with the pain signals travelling through the damaged nerves and the brain. Thus, it relieves pain due to nerve damage. Nortriptyline is an antidepressant that increases the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) to stop the movement of pain signals in the brain.
