General warnings

Effect on heart

Doxorubicin (Dr Reddys) 50 mg Injection may increase the risk of toxic effects on the heart and could lead to acute left ventricular failure. Patients with history of heart disease need close monitoring while receiving this medicine.

Infections

The chances of infections occurring are more in patients receiving this medicine. Hold the chemotherapy and start with broad-spectrum antibiotics if there are any signs and symptoms of fever. Close monitoring of the body temperature and the blood cell count is necessary in such cases.

Blood cell count

Doxorubicin (Dr Reddys) 50 mg Injection is known to lower the white blood cell count (neutrophils) in patients with risk factors such as pre-existing diseases or medicines. Close monitoring of blood cell count is necessary. Do not start the treatment if the blood cell count is low.

Secondary oral neoplasms

Doxorubicin (Dr Reddys) 50 mg Injection is known to increase the risk of secondary cancers, most frequently in the mouth. Close monitoring of symptoms like mouth ulcers, bleeding is necessary. The treatment should be discontinued if secondary cancer develops.
