Description
Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet is a combination of Aceclofenac and Diacerein. It is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is characterized by pain during movement due to the wearing of the protective covering at the ends of the bones of the knee or hip joints. This medicine works by stopping the release of a certain chemical that causes pain, swelling and redness. Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet shows some side effects like nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. If any of these side effects persist for a long time, consult your doctor. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Avoid consuming alcohol while you are on this medication, as it may increase the side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and stomach bleeding. Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet can be taken with food to avoid any stomach discomfort. The dose and duration will be determined by your doctor based on the condition and how well it relieves your symptoms. Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet interacts with other medicines. Allergy

Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it may delay the bone formation of your foetus.

Breast-feeding

Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet is known to pass into the breastmilk. This medicine may affect the kidneys and bone growth in infants. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine during breastfeeding.
General warnings

Diarrhoea

Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet may cause diarrhoea or loose stools in the first few days of treatment. Contact your doctor if the diarrhoea does not stop within 3-4 days.

Antibiotic therapy

Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet should not be taken with antibiotics since the risk of stomach irritation and persistent diarrhoea is significantly high.

Kidney/liver problems

If you have liver/kidney impairment and are undergoing treatment with Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet there is an increased risk of worsening your condition. Your liver/kidney functions need to be closely monitored.

Diagnostic tests

It is recommended to monitor your liver function, kidney function and complete blood count in every six months during treatment with Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet.

Urine discolouration

The use of Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet may cause the intense yellow colour of urine. This is mainly due to the excretion of end products and may not lead to any side effects.

Missed Dose

If you missed a Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never take Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

Irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is an intestinal disorder that causes pain in the abdomen, gases and diarrhoea/constipation. Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet may increase the risk of diarrhoea in people having IBS.

Asthma

There may be risks associated with if you have asthma and are sensitive to NSAIDs (painkillers), when Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet is taken. Hence avoid using it.

Gastro-Intestinal toxicity

Long term use of Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet can cause damage to your stomach and intestine. Serious conditions like bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestinal wall may occur.
Food interactions
A diet rich in fibres and phytates (beans, seeds and grains) may interfere with the absorption of Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet from the stomach. Hence, taking this medicine along with a diet rich in fibres and phytates should be avoided.

Take Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet as instructed by your doctor. You can take this medicine with or without food. It may increase your blood sugar level. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Do not take Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet if you are having diarrhoea. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Do not take it with any other medicine containing Paracetamol or any drugs for pain/fever or cough and cold, without asking your doctor first. Dica (100/50 mg) Tablet is a combination of Aceclofenac and Diacerein. Aceclofenac works by reducing the formation of certain substances in your body that cause pain and swelling. Diacerein works by blocking the actions of a certain specific protein that causes swelling, pain, and degradation of cartilage at bone joints. The combination is thus effective in the treatment of pain and swelling associated with osteoarthritis.
