Darifenacin

Description

Darifenacin is used for the treatment of an overactive bladder, a condition characterized by symptoms such as a frequent feeling of a need to urinate, sudden urge to urinate, inability to control urination, leaking of urine, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from urinary retention, a condition where the patient is unable to completely or partially empty the bladder, since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Narrow angle glaucoma

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from an uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Gastric retention

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from gastric retention due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. If the medicine is used, close monitoring of the infant for any undesired side effects is recommended.
General warnings

Angioedema and anaphylactic reactions

This medicine may cause angioedema (swelling) of the face, lips, tongue, etc. as well as severe allergic reactions in some patients. Seek immediate medical intervention if any such reactions develop. Appropriate patient/caregiver counseling, corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Liver impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from a mild-to-moderate liver function impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended for such patients. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver function impairment. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Pediatric population

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Central nervous system effects

This medicine may cause central nervous system side effects such as a headache, confusion, hallucinations, sleepiness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any such symptoms during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Driving or operating machines

Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. in some patients. If you experience any such symptoms after taking this medicine, it is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery.

Missed Dose

If a dose of this medicine is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.
