Description
Cypon Capsule is an antihistaminic medicine that contains Cyproheptadine. It is used to treat conditions like allergic rhinitis (irritation of nose), migraine, cluster headache, allergy of skin, etc. It works by blocking the release of histamine, a chemical messenger in the body that causes allergic symptoms. Cypon Capsule may cause side effects like dryness of mouth, nose, and throat, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, chest congestion, headaches, and muscle weakness. Consult your doctor if these side effects worsen or persist for a long time. Avoid any activity that requires concentration such as driving vehicles or operating heavy machines after taking Cypon Capsule. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Cypon Capsule can be taken with or without food, in a dosage prescribed by your doctor. Take this medicine at the same time every day. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it may cause excessive drowsiness. Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken an overdose of this medicine as it can lead to symptoms like extreme drowsiness, hallucinations, very dry mouth, breathing difficulty, etc. Cypon Capsule is not recommended for use in children below the age of two years. It may be very unsafe for use in newborn or premature babies. It is not suitable for use if you have any pre-existing kidney, liver problems, or if you have glaucoma. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a sudden rise of intraocular pressure (pressure within your eye) due to blocked drainage canals in your eyes. You should not take Cypon Capsule if you have this condition. This medicine may increase eye pressure and worsen your condition.

Enlarged prostate

The prostate is a gland present in males that produces sperm containing fluid. This gland enlarges with age and may cause symptoms like difficulty in urination, burning sensation while urinating, etc. You should not take Cypon Capsule if you have prostate enlargement as it may cause difficulty in urination and worsen your condition.

Elderly

Do not take Cypon Capsule if you are 65 years of age or older since it is not as safe or effective as other medicines, which can be used to treat the same condition.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are a group of medications used to treat a range of mental health conditions including depression and anxiety disorders like panic attacks etc. Cypon Capsule is not recommended for use if you are receiving therapy with MAO inhibitors due to the increased risk of serious side effects.

Alcohol

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Cypon Capsule as it may cause side effects like dizziness, sleepiness, and difficulty in concentrating which might be increased by alcohol. You may also have a mental and judgemental abnormality.

Thyroid disorder

Cypon Capsule should be used with caution if you have any thyroid disorders due to the increased risk of severe side effects. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your thyroid functioning while you are on treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be recommended by your doctor in some cases based on your clinical condition.

How it works
Cypon Capsule is a combination of cyproheptadine and dried yeast extract. Cyproheptadine works by blocking the action of certain substances produced by your body which are responsible for causing allergic symptoms. It also blocks the actions of certain substances in the body which are responsible for a reduction in appetite. Dried yeast provides nutritional supplementation for vitamin B and also reduces inflammation.
