How it works
Chlorthalidone works by increasing the excretion of water and sodium from your kidneys. This helps in bringing down the blood pressure as well as swelling. Cilnidipine acts by blocking the inflow of calcium (responsible for the contraction of blood vessels) and causes relaxation, thereby promoting the smooth flow of blood. Thus, this combination medicine is better effective in treating high blood pressure.
