Description
Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is a combination of Cilnidipine and Telmisartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine relaxes the blood vessels and controls high blood pressure. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet may cause side effects like stomach pain, swelling in your hands and feet, irregular heartbeats, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid performing activities that require mental focus, like driving vehicles or operating machines, as this medicine may cause dizziness. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet can be taken with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose based on your condition. Take Cetanil-T 20 Tablet at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your blood. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have other heart conditions or liver/kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines or supplements as they may interact with this medicine and increase the risk of side effects. Allergy

Avoid taking Cetanil-T 20 Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, swelling and/or itching (especially in the face, lips, throat, etc.), dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Severe liver impairment

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is not recommended for use if you have severe liver problems. Impaired liver function may lead to the accumulation of this medicine in the body and increase the risk of side effects. It may also cause further liver damage.

Aliskiren

Avoid taking Cetanil-T 20 Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used for reducing high blood pressure) together as it may lead to kidney damage, low blood pressure, and hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in your blood). It may also cause other side effects such as irregular heartbeat, muscle paralysis, heart attack, etc. This risk is particularly higher if you have diabetes or kidney problems or in the elderly.

Pregnancy

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it can harm your foetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding as it is not known if this medicine passes into breastmilk. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Aortic Stenosis

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet should be used with caution if you have aortic stenosis (narrowing of the aortic valve that regulates blood flow from the chamber of the heart to the body) due to the increased risk of hypotension (low blood pressure). Hence, regularly monitor your blood pressure during treatment with this medicine. Your doctor may adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.

Use in Children

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Renal artery stenosis

Renal artery stenosis is the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels that carry blood to your kidneys. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet should be used with caution if you have renal artery stenosis as it may cause uncontrolled high blood pressure, altered kidney function, water retention, and swelling of the body (majorly in the hands and feet). Your kidney function and clinical condition will be closely monitored by your doctor while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Drug Withdrawal

Avoid abrupt discontinuation of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet as it may worsen the condition such as angina (chest pain). Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose based on your condition to avoid undesirable effects.

Hyperkalaemia

Hyperkalaemia is an increase in potassium levels in your blood. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet may lead to hyperkalaemia and cause side effects such as irregular heartbeats. Hence avoid potassium-rich foods (such as potatoes, bananas, etc.) and other medicines or supplements that may increase potassium levels during treatment with this medicine.

Driving or operating machines

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet may cause symptoms such as drowsiness and/or dizziness in some cases. Hence, avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating heavy machines during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet for further guidance.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet should be used with caution if you have conditions such as heart failure. It may lead to oliguria (low urine output) and kidney failure. Your doctor may closely monitor the functioning of your heart and kidney while you are taking this medicine.

Hypotension

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause hypotension (low blood pressure). The risk is especially higher if you have low levels of sodium in your body or if you have low fluid volumes due to excessive vomiting, diarrhoea, kidney failure, etc. Hence, regularly monitor your blood pressure while you are taking this medicine.

Kidney Disease

Cetanil-T 20 Tablet is excreted via the kidney and may get accumulated in your body if your kidneys are not functioning properly. This can increase the risk of severe side effects. Hence, this medicine should be used with caution if you have kidney problems.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended as it increases the absorption of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet in your body and increases the risk of side effects.
Lab interactions

Urinary vanillylmandelic acid

Urinary vanillylmandelic acid test is performed to determine the presence of certain tumours. Inform your doctor or the lab technician about the use of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet as this medicine may give a false-positive result for the urinary vanillylmandelic acid test.
Take Cetanil-T 20 Tablet as advised by your doctor. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet. Take this medicine at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Avoid the discontinuation of Cetanil-T 20 Tablet without consulting your doctor. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet as it helps in maintaining your blood pressure. Avoid consuming alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking Cetanil-T 20 Tablet as it can increase the risk of side effects. Cetanil-T 20 Tablet can make you feel dizzy. Be careful while standing up from sitting or lying down position. Avoid performing activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy. Regularly monitor your blood pressure while you are taking this medicine.
