Description

Canagliflozin is an antidiabetic medicine used alone or in a combination with other medicines to treat type 2 diabetes in adult patients. Patients are advised to follow a strict diet and exercise regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

General warnings

Kidney diseases

Hyperkalemia

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hyperkalemia (high potassium levels) or patients predisposed to hyperkalemia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of potassium levels, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Ketoacidosis

This medicine should be used with extreme caution since it may increase the risk of ketoacidosis.
