Description
Buscopan Plus Tablet is a combination of Hyoscine butylbromide and Paracetamol. It effectively reduces stomach pain and cramps by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and gut. Your doctor may also prescribe this medicine to relieve menstrual cramps. It also blocks a certain chemical messenger that is responsible for causing fever and pain. Buscopan Plus Tablet can be taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not self-medicate or stop on your own as it may worsen your condition. Buscopan Plus Tablet use shows common side effects like constipation, dryness in the mouth and blurred vision. Usually, these side effects are temporary and resolve over time. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor at the earliest. Avoid taking this medicine if you have a known allergy to Buscopan Plus Tablet. Buscopan Plus Tablet can interact with other medicines, so let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking. Allergy

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a condition in which the normal communication between muscle and nerves gets altered. It is characterized by weakness and rapid fatigue of the muscles that are under the body's control (voluntary control). Buscopan Plus Tablet may suppress the communication between the muscle and nerves leading to worsening of the condition.

Acute narrow-angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is caused by blocked drainage canals in the eye, resulting in a sudden rise in the intraocular pressure (pressure inside your eyes). This is a rare form of glaucoma, which develops very quickly and demands immediate medical attention. Buscopan Plus Tablet may worsen the condition by increasing the pressure in the eyes. Hence, it is not recommended to use in this condition.

Megacolon

Megacolon is the abnormal dilation of the colon. It may be the complication of diseases such as Inflammatory bowel disease (inflammation of digestive tract) and Crohn's disease (swelling of the intestine). Buscopan Plus Tablet is not recommended for use if you have megacolon due to the increased risk of colon relaxation and further serious side effects.

Paralytic or obstructive ileus

Paralytic or obstructive ileus is a condition in which there is a blockage in the intestine without any physical obstruction. It may occur due to the impairment of nerves and muscles of the intestine. Buscopan Plus Tablet may increase the risk of this condition as it may worsen the obstruction.

Kidney disease

Buscopan Plus Tablet is excreted through kidneys. People with kidney problems have reduced ability to filter out this medicine and it gets accumulated in the kidneys, leading to worsening of the condition.

Severe liver impairment

Buscopan Plus Tablet gets converted to its active form in your liver. Taking this medicine when you have pre-existing liver problems can lead to the accumulation of medicine in the liver, leading to the worsening of your liver.

General warnings

Driving or operating machinery

Use of Buscopan Plus Tablet may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. It is advised that you do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Prostatic enlargement

Buscopan Plus Tablet should be used with caution iif you have prostatic enlargement. This medicine increases the risk of urinary retention in such cases. Close monitoring of your water intake and output is advisable. Consult your doctor if you experience pain in and above the genital area.

Use in children

Buscopan Plus Tablet should be used with extreme caution in children.

Chronic Malnutrition

Extreme caution should be taken while using Buscopan Plus Tablet if you have malnourishment, due to the increased risk of severe side effects.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a Buscopan Plus Tablet dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose on time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed Buscopan Plus Tablet dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

Cardiovascular disease

Caution should be exercised while using Buscopan Plus Tablet if you have any history of cardiovascular diseases. It may provoke side effects such as very low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness, irregular heart rate, difficulties with breathing, etc. Your doctor may monitor your heart function closely.

Alcoholism

5-HIAA Urine Test

Use of Buscopan Plus Tablet may give a false-positive result for this test. It is advised to inform your doctor and lab technician about the consumption of this medicine before the test is performed.
You can take Buscopan Plus Tablet orally with or without food. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet in the mouth. Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while you are taking this medicine. Do not use a stool softener (laxative) without first asking your doctor. A dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and eating sugarless candy may help. Maintain a duration gap of at least 2 hours between Buscopan Plus Tablet and other medicine to avoid any interactions. Consult your doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects.

How it works
Buscopan Plus Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Hyoscine butylbromide and Paracetamol.
