Description
Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler is used to relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, coughing, etc. caused by asthma. This medicine is a corticosteroid (medicines that help in reducing pain, swelling and irritation of the affected part). Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler reduces swelling and irritation in your lungs. It is used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and is not indicated in the treatment of an ongoing asthma attack. Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may cause some side effects like thrush (a fungal infection), sore throat, cough and hoarse voice. Inform your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time. Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler should be used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. For the ease of remembering, use it around the same time every day. Even if you see an improvement in your condition, do not stop taking it. If you discontinue the use of this medicine early, your symptoms may return or worsen. Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may interact with the action of other medicines like steroids. Inform your doctor about any other health issues like liver, kidney, heart troubles or if you are undergoing any medical treatment before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

General warnings

Infections

Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler will decrease the immune response (defence mechanism) of your body and mask the symptoms of infection. This will increase the risk of secondary infections, hence use this medicine carefully.

Diabetes

Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may increase the blood sugar levels and worsen the symptoms of diabetes (a condition in which blood sugar level is increased). Use it carefully if you have diabetes.

Impaired liver function

Use Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler with caution if you have liver problems. This medicine is broken down in your liver. Having liver problems may increase the accumulation of this medicine in your body which may damage your liver further. Your doctor will suggest tests to regularly monitor your liver function. He may also adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.

Decrease bone density

Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may reduce bone density by reducing calcium absorption. Because of the risk of developing bone injuries, it should be used with caution, especially if you are a postmenopausal woman (when you have not had your menses for more than a year).

Growth retardation

Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may cause growth retardation in some children, especially if used in high doses for a long time. Therefore, children receiving this medicine should be monitored closely with regard to growth parameters.

Candida infection

Use of Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler for an extended period of time may cause Candidiasis (symptoms include white patches on the inner cheeks and tongue that bleed easily when scraped, bad breath, burning mouth syndrome, dryness etc.)

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Ocular herpes simplex is an eye infection caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV) which often leads to blindness. Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may increase the risk of damage or perforation in the cornea (protective outer layer of your eyes) if you have ocular herpes simplex.

Hyperadrenocorticism

Hyperadrenocorticism is a condition caused by prolonged exposure to high cortisol (hormone) levels. Budecort 50 MCG Inhaler may occasionally cause or worsen hyperadrenocorticism symptoms.
