Blumox-Plus Capsule

Manufactured byBLUE CROSS LABORATORIES LTD
ContainsAmoxycillin (250 mg) + Cloxacillin (250 mg)
Description
Blumox-Plus Capsule is an antibiotic combination of Amoxycillin and Cloxacillin. This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections of your lungs, throat, ear, sinuses, skin, heart, urinary tract and bone. Blumox-Plus Capsule is not recommended for treating a common cold, flu, or other viral infections because it is not effective in treating these infections. This medicine works by killing the bacteria by damaging its protective covering (cell wall). Blumox-Plus Capsule shows side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and headache. If you notice that any of these side effects do not resolve with time or worsen, seek a doctor's consultation at the earliest. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your doctor in case you develop an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties. Blumox-Plus Capsule can be taken with food to avoid an upset stomach. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of this medicine based on the severity and location of the infection. Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Doing so may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection. Blumox-Plus Capsule is safe for you when you share your entire medical and medication history with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding before using this medicine.

Antibiotic-resistance

Finish the entire course of treatment with Blumox-Plus Capsule, even if your condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Long-term therapy

Close monitoring of kidney function, liver function, and blood counts is recommended during long-term therapy with Blumox-Plus Capsule.

Allergic Reaction

Disease interactions

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis (kissing disease) is an infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It is spread through saliva. People with mononucleosis may develop a maculopapular skin rash (flat and small raised bumps on the skin) after 5-10 days of treatment with Blumox-Plus Capsule and resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Blumox-Plus Capsule may not be appropriate medicine if there is an incidence of mononucleosis.

Kidney Disease

Blumox-Plus Capsule is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. If you are diagnosed with kidney diseases, special consideration is needed while taking Blumox-Plus Capsule due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment should be done based on the clinical condition.

Colitis

Blumox-Plus Capsule can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use Blumox-Plus Capsule with extreme caution if there are gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of your colon), as it may worsen your condition.

Lab interactions

Urine Sugar Test

Blumox-Plus Capsule is moved out from the body via urine. High urine concentrations of Blumox-Plus Capsule might give a false-positive result for the urine sugar test (test to determine the presence of glucose). Inform your doctor or lab technician about the use of Blumox-Plus Capsule before doing this test.
Take Blumox-Plus Capsule with food to avoid an upset stomach. Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Diarrhoea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Blumox-Plus Capsule may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Blumox-Plus Capsule and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
