Description
Benipack T Tablet is a medicine that consists of Benidipine and Telmisartan. It is an anti-hypertensive medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels, making the blood flow easily, thus lowering blood pressure. This will reduce your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke by making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. Benipack T Tablet shows some common side effects like swelling in your ankles or feet, back pain, headache, nausea, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Benipack T Tablet is also known to cause sleepiness and dizziness, so you should not drive or do any activity that requires mental focus after taking this medicine. Avoid consuming alcohol with this medicine as it can worsen dizziness. Benipack T Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose will be decided by your doctor depending on your blood pressure levels. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the treatment as your blood pressure may increase if you do so. Benipack T Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. If you have any pre-existing kidney or liver problems, or other medical conditions, inform your doctor about them. Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking as this medicine can interact with them and can cause side effects. Benipack T Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding before using this medicine. Allergy

Avoid taking Benipack T Tablet if you have a known allergy to benidipine, telmisartan or any other component of this medicine. This could lead to symptoms like skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), breathing difficulty, hives (painful eruptions that itch and sting), etc.

Aliskiren

Aliskiren is a drug used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Coadministration of aliskiren and Benipack T Tablet is not recommended as it may increase the risk of hyperkalaemia (high levels of potassium in your blood), which in severe cases can lead to kidney failure, muscle paralysis, irregular heart rhythm, and cardiac arrest. This risk is especially higher in people with diabetes and kidney problems.

Benipack T Tablet is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may cause harm to your developing foetus. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

Liver disease

Driving or operating machines

Use in elderly

Benipack T Tablet should be used with caution in old people due to the increased risk of very low blood pressure. Your blood pressure needs to be monitored regularly while using this medicine. Your doctor will start the treatment at low doses and increase the dose based on the response.

Use in children

Benipack T Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy of the use of this medicine are not clinically established.

Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalaemia (increase in the blood potassium levels) may occur after taking Benipack T Tablet. It may result in kidney failure, muscle paralysis, irregular heart rhythm, and cardiac arrest. It is important to maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment with this medicine

Missed Dose

If you forget to take the dose of Benipack T Tablet at a given time, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the dose prescribed by your doctor. If you have intentionally or accidentally consumed more than the prescribed amount of Benipack T Tablet, then you might feel headache, confusion, fever, change in the heartbeat, nausea, vomiting etc. Contact your doctor immediately for further guidance.

Cardiogenic shock

Benipack T Tablet is not recommended for use when you have cardiogenic shock (a life-threatening condition where your heart abruptly stops pumping blood). Using this medicine will further decrease your heart’s ability to pump blood and reduce your blood pressure and heart rate drastically.

Liver disease

Take Benipack T Tablet with caution if you have liver problems due to the increased risk of severe side effects. Your doctor may advise blood tests to observe your liver enzyme levels.

Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is a chronic progressive condition that affects the pumping power of your heart muscle. Benipack T Tablet should be used with caution if you have congestive heart failure, as it will further reduce your heart’s ability to pump blood leading to very low blood pressure and slow heartbeat.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with Benipack T Tablet as it can increase the absorption of this medicine. This could lead to excessive lowering of blood pressure or worsen side effects.

Benipack T Tablet can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet. The dose prescribed is based on your situation. Hence, avoid taking more or fewer doses than that prescribed by your doctor.
